Hello there! This is your conductor, Kim, and welcome to our 20th season as your California Pops Orchestra. Bigger, better and more fun than ever! To close out the season, by special request and special arrangement we're bringing you the incredible "Flying Karamazov Brothers". Performed on PBS, Broadway and the Cincinnati Pops. I can't wait and I hope you can't either. It's great to see you again and we look forward to "making beautiful music together." See you at the show! Kim Pops News!
"California Pops Thrills with Movie Music" Review "Carol Channing is back in Los Gatos Spotlight" 3/13/09 Article Save California Schools Music and the Arts Education curriculums!
The California Pops in partnership with the Dr. Carol Channing & Harry Kullijian Foundation for the Arts to help rebuild California School's music and the arts education programs. The 60-piece California Pops Orchestra joined forces with Miss Channing last year to help bring Music and the Arts back to California's public schools. This March 15th, 2009 show is the Northern California kick-off to that effort and proceeds benefit the Dr. Carol Channing and Harry Kullijian Foundation for the Arts and their partners, the California Pops Orchestra. New 2nd Venue!
The Los Gatos Venture Christian Church completed this summer the construction of a beautiful theater style sanctuary that perfectly fits the community and hillsides. Sits 1100 folks. Parking for 700+ cars with plenty of handicap parking at side entrances. Yes- 3 sets of bathrooms. A stage with new sound/lighting system fitting the Pops. 2 mega projection screens and a jumbotron. Plus a glass window hidden behind the stage curtains that is almost 3 stories tall by 100 feet. When the curtains fully open- yes- you're looking at trees. Ah....

The California Pops Orchestra is the West Coast's only exclusively Pops orchestra. You can count on CPOs' 60 plus musicians, featured singers and guest artists to bring you lively shows with selections from the full range of the popular music repertoire. From Broadway, musicals, television and the movies to jazz, rock, light classics, and big band. We do it all. This popular music is scored for a unique instrumentation not typically found in symphony orchestras. Don't be surprised if you see flugelhorn, saxes, harmonicas, congas, lassos, theramins and other much more. |

Playing popular music versus the "classical" repertoire is irresistible to the Pops performers. Today this volunteer group includes musicians from distinguished Conservatories including Oberlin, Julliard and the Eastman School of Music. Creative individuals from all sectors of society are attracted to the Pops. This diversity in background makes the Pops a delight to play with and a never-ending source of ideas, inspiration and humor.
